Importance in Public Health

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death globally, accounting for millions of lives lost each year. With modern lifestyles contributing to risk factors like obesity, diabetes, smoking, and inactivity, the role of cardiology in public health is critical. Cardiologists are central to preventive heart care, early risk detection, emergency interventions for heart attacks, and chronic disease management. By offering community education, lifestyle guidance, and screening programs, the department actively contributes to reducing the burden of heart disease. Timely and appropriate cardiology care not only saves lives but also enhances the quality of life in patients living with chronic heart conditions.
