The Hematology Department specializes in the study, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to the blood, bone marrow, and lymphatic system. Hematologists deal with a wide range of both benign and malignant blood disorders, including anemia, clotting disorders, blood cancers, and genetic blood conditions. The department combines clinical excellence with advanced diagnostics such as bone marrow biopsies, blood smear evaluations, flow cytometry, and coagulation studies, providing patients with accurate and timely care. Hematologists work closely with oncologists, pathologists, and transfusion medicine experts to deliver comprehensive and compassionate treatment.


Roles and Responsibilities
  • 👨‍⚕️ Physicians:
    • Diagnosing and treating anemias, clotting and bleeding disorders, and blood cancers.
    • Performing and interpreting bone marrow aspirations and biopsies.
    • Managing coagulopathies, including hemophilia and thrombophilia.
    • Monitoring and treating leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma in coordination with oncology teams.
    • Supervising blood transfusions, iron therapy, and plasma exchange procedures.
    • Managing bone marrow transplant patients (in specialized centers).
    • Treating pediatric and adult hematological conditions, including genetic and acquired disorders.
    • Educating patients on chronic hematologic diseases, prevention strategies, and lifestyle modifications.
