1. Introduction

The Pulmonology Department is dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of diseases affecting the lungs and respiratory system. Staffed by expert Pulmonologists, the department addresses a broad spectrum of respiratory disorders ranging from asthma and chronic bronchitis to life-threatening conditions like lung cancer and respiratory failure. Using a combination of clinical evaluation, advanced imaging, pulmonary function tests, and interventional techniques like bronchoscopy, our team ensures precise diagnosis and targeted treatment. Whether managing chronic conditions or responding to respiratory emergencies, our focus is on restoring healthy breathing and improving quality of life.

Importance in Public Health

Respiratory diseases are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in developing countries. Conditions like COPD, asthma, tuberculosis, and lung cancer contribute to a significant healthcare burden. Pulmonologists are essential in early detection, chronic disease control, and preventing hospitalizations through timely interventions and patient education. With rising pollution levels, smoking prevalence, and the emergence of airborne infections (e.g., COVID-19), pulmonology plays a vital public health role. The department also contributes to preventive care through lung health awareness campaigns, vaccination programs, smoking cessation clinics, and occupational health screening β€” significantly improving population health and reducing long-term complications.
